Duromax Generators - The Duro Max stopped working.
During a critical cold weather event the generator let my house whole down. It just stopped working. I called the manufacturer's service number and talked to a serviceperson. No help.

exact same thing happened to me - Mine had 6 hours on it. It will not develop voltage.

Looking for a solution. Thank goodness I got the product insurance from Home Depot.

Same problem here, intermittent... momentary power produced then nothing.... intermittent (produces power for a second) intermittently.

I figured it out, fixed it myself.

I received an email from Duromax saying I should hookup the battery. Duh?

Of course the battery was hooked up. I decided to take the switch panel off. I found a wire in the wiring harness that had a male/female plug had come apart.

I re-assembled it, and was able to start from battery. Reason the wire came apart is because the factory jammed a tank hose (which they failed to mention is included) between the top of the engine and the bottom of the gas tank.

We received our new generator Duromax XP5500EH dual fuel with electric start. We cant get it started using electric start. There is voltage so we know the battery isnt dead. Called twice and spent over 20 minutes on hold each time. Also sent an message without a response. Now of course its Sat. Will try again Monday and if we cant reach I am returning the unit.

Trying to hook up an Amana CAPF3636B6DB

Original review Oct 30, 2020
Power outage Day 4 no heat. Hvac tech couldn't figure out why. The heat fan runs but won't ignite the gas furnace. Took everything off except heating unit but still wouldn't start, even after waiting 50 minutes for it to cycle. I'm the daughter who lives out of town and trying to find answers for my father (93)

it depends on how gen was hooked to house, too many grounds, gen should be a floating neutral and bonded to ground at the panel. I had that issue at times, use a 4 wire cord if 120/240 into dryer socket much safer to use a recessed male fitting with cord having male an female ends.

Wont operate an amana hvac gas heat. Works ok for other stuff.

Power outage and hooked up to furnace. Works the fan and can tell it tries to ignite but no gas. Hvac tech that installed can't figure it out either but the generator is running. Any ideas what could make this work.. Day 4 of outage.

been there done that, something about too many grounds. if possible check to see that neutral and ground are NOT bonded at gen.

mfr should tell u how to make it a floating neutral. u can have gen frame bonded to neutral through a plug by connecting ground an neutral together. but u should have a 4 wire cord red black white and green.

black an red to breaker and white and green to neutral bus bar BUT is its a sub banel, whites and grounds MUST NOT be connected together. grounds will be either green or bare.

G'day, I took delivery today on an XP5500EHduromax generator. The supposedly enclosed propane hose is not to be found. my wife, son and myself scoured the thing. No luck. I called the number in the book and it sounded like a fraudulent call when answered. If this is supposed to be customer support, it is lacking. So: they don't want me to return it to Home Depot, now what???

Disapointed

The 12v charge on my brand new generator doesn't work and I have tried to contact the company multiple times. I have received no response and to say the least am disappointed in the company. I made the purchase based on hype I guess as they claim to be made in America but that doesn't seem very American to me. In an attempt to find a warranty center I find that it is pretty much a waste of time as there just isn't anything local or close enough to even consider. Looks like I made a mistake believing that American companies still hold customer service to a high standard. The generator runs great and does everything it is supposed to except charge a 12v battery which is pretty important up in the mountains and at the lake. Paid for an extended warranty but appears that is a waste of money also in as much as they refuse to even communicate. Disappointed and disgusted: Charles
